Walking Between Continents

IMT_79Last Sunday was the 36th Istanbul marathon which also includes what is billed as a ‘fun walk.’  And fun it was!  It seems as though most of Istanbul’s 15+ million souls came out to avail themselves of the only chance to walk across the first Bosphorus bridge connecting Europe and Asia.  Everyone was there – the old, the young, the middle-aged and groups or individuals with banners proclaiming their cause – and in true Turkish fashion the route was lined with tea vendors, water sellers, and simitci (sellers of sesame seed bread rings).
