Hidrellez

HDZ_491-EditHidrellez (May 5)  is a celebration of the coming of spring practiced throughout the Turkic world.   Jumping over a bonfire and planting wishes under a rose bush or floating them in the river are just two of the many rituals associated with the holiday. These shots are from the all night Romany (gypsy) celebration in Edirne, Turkey.
