During the month of Ramazan the main mosques sport ‘mahya’ – phrases spelled out in lights strung between the minarets.  During Ottoman times this was done with oil lamps placed and lit by tight-rope-walking brave souls.

The Lit Circles

The Zorlu Center, one of Istanbul’s biggest and luxurious shopping center/theater/hotel complexes, is always having fun and elaborate events to draw folks in.  The latest was a festival of lights which included a wide variety of installations.
